Long Term Goals

A temporary move or long term...you can still leave and live legally overseas on your own terms.

Pensionado Visa – Retirement Uruguay's retirement residency requires proof of a stable pension or retirement income of at least $1,500 per month. Applicants must also make a one-time deposit of approximately $10,000 in a Uruguayan bank. This pathway grants temporary residency, renewable annually, with permanent residency available after three to five years. Uruguay's retiree-friendly environment includes no tax on foreign-sourced income for the first ten years, making it attractive for American retirees seeking a stable, welcoming country with a high quality of life.

Rentista Visa – Stable Income Designed for those with reliable passive income from investments, rental properties, or other sources, this visa requires proof of approximately $1,500 per month in guaranteed income for at least two years, plus a one-time bank deposit of around $10,000. It suits early retirees, remote workers with investment income, or those living off savings who want legal residency without local employment. Temporary residency converts to permanent residency after three to five years of legal residence.

Residency by Economic Interest – Employment or Business This pathway covers those who will work for a Uruguayan company, start a business, or demonstrate economic ties to the country. Applicants must show proof of employment, a business plan, or investment in a local enterprise. There's no strict minimum investment threshold, making it accessible for entrepreneurs and remote workers establishing local operations. It's popular among Americans seeking straightforward residency in a business-friendly, politically stable country.

Residency by Investment – Real Estate or Capital Uruguay offers residency through significant investment in real estate or business ventures, though there's no formal "golden visa" program with fixed minimums. Demonstrating substantial investment—typically starting around $100,000 in property or business—combined with establishing economic ties strengthens applications. This pathway suits high-net-worth individuals seeking residency in a country with territorial taxation, strong property rights, and no restrictions on foreign ownership.
